8 Free And Best Online Backlink Checker Tools

We all know that SEO has evolved and it’s not same anymore. There was a time when SEO was mainly used to be building huge number of inbound links (which partly still is) for your website but now things have changed. While building backlinks still play a vital role in any SEO campaign these backlink checker tools helps you in monitoring, finding and evaluating all the incoming backlinks of your or your competitor’s website. Well, i’m skipping all the link building talk here as we are here to know about online backlink checker tool .

It’s not the end of the world for those who want to but cann’t afford to buy the premium plans from Ahrefs, OSE or Majestic SEO to evaluate his or his competitors backlinks which is why here i have tried and compiled a list of free and best online backlink checker tool so that it can be used by those who can’t afford to buy monthly or yearly subscription of ahref , open site explorer or any other similar tool.

It is to be noted that many of these tool will not show you accurate stats and therefor your results may vary but i have tried to point best tool among what i have used.

1) Ahrefs

Shouting it loudly and proudly, this tool is at par with other Giants like Open Site Explorer, Majestic SEO etc. Even though it is a paid tool but reports from it’s free version is damn impressive and worth mentioning here. This tool will give you reports like backlink analysis, anchor text analysis, when the particular url was crawled etc etc. Free version gives you backlink data of upto 10 pages and each pages contains 50 links which means 500 backlinks (which can contains backlinks from same domain too).

Apart from showing backlinks this tool also gives you information like how many backlinks you have got from different TLD’s like .gov, .org, .com, .edu etc. It also gives you information of your backlink type whether they are from image or text, it also let us know how many of them are dofollow and nofollow.

I have been using Ahref’s Professional plan for my SEO campaigns and the quality of data and the kind of detail information this tool produce is simply outstanding and distinguish it from other tools available in market. No doubt Open Site Explorer is great too but Ahrefs is my personal favourite among all these given below. Just try this tool and you will fall in love with it instantly . 2) Analyze Backlinks

I must say that the result surprised me totally and was beyond my expectations when i searched backlinks of searchramble.com and used this tool for the first time. Apart from the backlink results what else i liked is simple and clean interface. Most of the free tool which you will find on internet has very clumsy interface making things a mess for user but Analyze Backlinks have a clean and cluttered free interface. Analyze Backlinks gives you many options to narrow down your result and make it more precise which are pretty handy for example:-

• Don’t repeat backlinks from same domain
• Show links only from homepage
• Find Anchor Text, Total Links, Outbound Links
• Search for a text on the source code of backlinks

I have also heard that this tool is also said to be Yahoo Site Explorer Alternative Tool. Guys, give this tool a try it might surprise you and please note that it’s free so keep your expectation a bit low, please  ;).

3) BackLinkWatch

I’m pretty sure that this is one of the widely used Free Backlink checker tool among many SEO’s. There are reasons behind why you might like this free tool, other than showing backlinks of your website or your competitor’s  it will give you additional information like how many OBL (out bound links) are there in the page, whether the link on that page is nofollow or not and last but quite useful which anchor text was used for the link, it will also show if  a image was used to link.

But then again this tool is free and everything has it’s pros and cons and which is why some people might avoid using this tool. One of the main reason why one can avoid using this tool is the unwanted pop-ups you get on the website, everyone loves clean layout but here you will definately get atleast 2 pop-ups, 1st when you will try to enter the domain name in box and second when you want to see the result. Also the look and feel of this website is displeasing(atleast to me), but as this tool is free, you shouldn’t ask for more right?.

4) Open Site Explorer

This is an official tool from very famous SEOmoz also please note that this is not a FREE tool but it’s free version gives you enough data to get you started for your backlink finding campaign if i say. This tool is recommended and used by many big players of SEO Industry because of the insight it provides on backlinks. This tool is pretty impressive because of the diversity of information it gives you about your and your competitor’s backlink like SEOmoz’s PA (Page Authority), DA (Domain Authority), which anchor text was used, how many Unique linking root and total link domain it has etc etc.

As said before everything has it’s own pros and cons this free version of OSE has some too, free version will give you roughly 4 page of data and each page has 50links on it which means 200 links which can contain links from same domain too but i guess it is too much to ask for considering it’s free version and the quality of report it produce.

5) Link Diagnosis

It has a clean interface but personally i didn’t like this tool THAT much despite being hailed by some of the SEO’s i know who prefer this free online backlink checker tool. It gives you options before starting digging the backlinks like whether you need full or optimized report (for optimized result you have to install their add-on), whether you want to check backinks for a particular page or for a whole website etc. In its backlink report this tool will give you information like Page Authority, Domain Authority & Moz rank which are quite helpful for sorting quality links from not so quality links. Give this tool a try you might like it.

6) Rank Signals

I’m not sure why this tool hasn’t received the recognition which it deserves, but when using what will make you love this tool is the slick and premium feel of the website, amazingly clean interface and handful number of option while checking backlinks. Apart from backlinks of your and your competitor’s website this tool will also tell you which anchor text was used, Page Rank of home page of the linking url, your Alexa rank, your domain’s Page Rank and total number of backlinks.

7) Dig Backlink

Not my favorite but worth mentioning. This tool is free and provides backlink report which contains 1000 links in it, once you connect your Facebook account with the tool you can see more than 1000 links which is quite impressive, and just like every other tool it will give you handful of information about backlink like mozRank of that domain, whether it’s a image link or text link etc. It also has a very clean interface with no unwanted popups which gives it a premium feel but what i actually liked about this tool’s report is the ability to give you backlink detail which let you know how many links are from various TLD’s just like Ahrefs.

8) Small SEO Tool Backlink Checker

This tool was suggested by one of my friend to me. It has no unwanted pop-ups but also has a not so user friendly interface, things look all messed up but again this tool is FREE so one should not whine about interface and pop-ups. There’s no doubt that output of what i looking for (backlink data) was impressive and very detailed, apart from backlink report i liked the way this tool tells you Site PR and that Particular Link Page’s Rank which can help you in sorting and comparing between average, good and great sites according to Page Rank. This tool will also tell you anchor text of your backlink and also whether it is nofollow or not. Give this tool a try who knows you might prefer using from next time
